New Statement of Purpose---November 2007

We the men of Frederick Douglass JHS-139, have come together to bring our skills and abilities back to our community. We have pledged ourselves to a new progress and enhancement of the world, know as Harlem.

We will use the knowledge and commitment of those we grow up with.
The wisdom of Countee Cullen, the Panache of James Baldwin;the strength of Sugar Ray Robinson and the intestinal fortitude of Matt Henson.

We will plan and strategize, as done by Thurgood Marshall and his team of lawyers, Who sat for days and days writing the Civil Rights Laws we now enjoy. Leaving the 42 Street and 5th ave Library tired and without meals.

Yes, our mission is clear and we are responding to the call to duty.
